Mah Sing Group Bhd continues to solidify its status as one of the country’s most trusted brands, recently bagging the Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards 2017.
The win makes it the third consecutive year the company has been conferred the award, which is adjudicated on an annual basis by the Employer Branding Institute (EBI).
EBI is a body that connects senior leaders in the human resource sector, and the award is organised by the World HRD Congress and endorsed by the Asian Confederation of Businesses.
Commenting on the win, Mah Sing’s group manging director Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum said the company was honoured such a distinguished accolade.
“This award highlights the success of our recent group-wide transformation and in line with our tagline ‘Reinvent Spaces. Enhance Life’. In all that we do, our focus is enhancing the lives of our customers, our stakeholders and especially our people. This award is testament to our efforts throughout the years as we work towards providing a conducive working environment for our people,” Leong said.
He added that Mah Sing continues to engage in ever-improving the work environment for its staff, such as the recent introduction of its POWER statement – a programme that stands for for Performance First, Ownership, Well-Being, Empowerment and Resourcefulness. The new employee value statement will form part of the Group’s continuous learning programme to train employees and uphold the company’s values.
“The Mah Sing team is an important part of the company. Without them we will not be where we are today. With more than 900 people in the company, the Group continues to instil a culture of continuous improvement,” Leong said.
In 2016 alone, Mah Sing invested more than 18,000 hours of training to help our employees develop their full potential. One example is the LEAD Programme
As an example of commitment to the cause, Mah Sing introduced its management training programme – the LEAD (Leadership, Excellence, Advancement, and Development) Programme that was mooted to provide a solid platform for potential leaders of the company.
To date, the group has completed four batches of LEAD Projects and produced 70 top graduates.
Focusing on the work-life balance, initiatives such as Mah Sing Sports Club and the outdoor organising committee have promoted work-life integration via weekly activities are arranged for employees’ enjoyment to promote social interaction as well as team spirit.
Also last year, Mah Sing Sports Club have organised a Bowling Tournament, Movie Day, Paintball Competition, ACKU Charity Run and many similar events that have generated popular participation among employees.
Additionally, under the Mah Sing Foundation, staff members volunteer to join in CSR activities such as the Liter of Light project that saw the installation of sustainable light around the orang asli village in Cameron Highlands as well as collaborating with EPIC Homes which builds 650sq ft houses for Orang Asli villagers.
Currently, the Group is in the midst of renovating its headquarters (also known as MS@Work). The new office will features various modern layouts that appeal to millennials such as open space concept with fun meeting rooms, collaborative breakout areas and colourful pantries.
Prior to winning the Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards 2017, Mah Sing was awarded Asia Recruitment Awards in 2016. It also won the Bronze in Best Employer Brand Development; Asia Best Employer Brand Award the same year; the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2015 and the Investment in People and Asia HRD Awards in 2014.
