Upmarket builder BRDB Developments Sdn Bhd has announced its plan to launch RM2 billion worth of projects, both locally and abroad, this year.

According to the company, this will include projects in Taman Sari in Rawang, Selangor, the Defense Raya Golf and Country Club (DRGCC) in Lahore, Pakistan, and Gateway Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia.

Speaking to the press, BRDB chief executive officer Edwin Yang said the company is positive about the performance of these three projects, and their ability to contribute positively to this year’s revenue.

On the home front, BRDB will soon launch the remaining phases of the on-going TamanSari township project; a 265-acre residential hub comprising 2,000 terraced house units with an expected total gross development value of about RM2 billion.

Yang is also buoyant about the upcoming new phase of the DRGCC luxury residential development in Lahore, given that the 381 units released in the previous two phases were fully sold within a month of their launch.

“We have 118 villas left in the third phase, which are scheduled to be launched sometime this year and we are confident that it will do just as well as the previous launches,” he said, adding that the entire RM2.69 billion DRGCC will be completed by 2021.

Additionally, the Gateway Wollongong project taking shape in New South Wales is expected to attract a mix of investors and owner-occupiers.  Wollongong is a well-known university town in Australia, located an hour away from Sydney, and the mixed-use development is positioned close to University of Wollongong and a popular Buddhist temple.

Also, more than 15,000 professionals currently commute between Wollongong and Sydney every day for work, a fact that promises a positive spillover effect for the community.

Gateway Wollongong has an estimated GDV of RM491 million and is scheduled to be launched in July this year. It will offer 220 properties, comprising residential units with built-ups of 628sq ft to 1,285sq ft and commercial units with built-ups of 1,475sq ft to 6,566sq ft .

Best known for development efforts that led to the modernisation of Bangsar, BRDB’s portfolio has since grown to include high profile projects such as The Troika, Inara, 6 Capsquare, One Menerung, Senja, Serai Bukit Bandaraya and Verdana, as well as the Boulevard and Bangsar Shopping Centre.
