The holiday season is officially upon us. We are a month away from 2017 and it is time to usher in the most wonderful time of the year, and certainly, the busiest.
With school holidays and Christmas approaching, companies and individuals will be busy planning and hosting Christmas, New Year and holiday parties.
Most people make the mistake of thinking it is too soon to start planning, but just as the year has flown by, so will the next few days.
December is a busy period for many people which means you will want to get a date fixed as soon as possible and secure the details to ensure a flawless holiday party. Will you be hosting a boring Christmas party at your office eating almost-average tasting food? I sure hope not!
With hotel ballrooms usually booked with weddings and year-end events, why not opt for quirky event spaces like an industrial warehouse or a bungalow which doubles up as an event venue?
Rendezvous Garden in Section 17, Petaling Jaya, a double-storey bungalow complete with a beautifully landscaped garden, makes for a perfect place for Christmas cocktail parties for up to 150 guests utilising both its indoor and outdoor space. If you aren’t prepared to dress to the nines and are instead looking forward to a day filled with food trucks, fun games and good times, Rendezvous Garden is the right fit.
It’s always best to play by your company culture. If your colleagues are mostly young people, plan your holiday party somewhere vibrant. Base 26 in Kota Damansara, Selangor, although an intimate venue in size, is ideal as it truly is an urban lifestyle event venue.
Its flexible, industrial-inspired space can host events for up to 80 guests. It’s also kind to the pockets as you can secure it at below RM1,500. Base 26 also offers the freedom to engage the caterer of your choice at no extra cost.
If you’re looking for a venue with a view and a night of revelry, Deck located along The Row in KL is a rooftop event space surrounded by trees and is partly covered. It is equipped with fans and lights, a barbeque pit, a brick bar complete with basins and chillers, canopies as well as outdoor power points.
Engage a band and get the party started on a high note here. Deck screams perfect space for an office Christmas party!
While being able to engage preferred caterers is a plus point, some may cringe at the thought of having to secure the venue and caterer separately. In this case, it is best to stick to restaurants.
For those who work in Subang, Selangor, or are residents here, you may want to give La Cocina located in Taipan a shot.
This corner lot Spanish-Mediterranean style restaurant offers a well decorated and spacious dining area on the ground floor which comfortably seats 100 guests. The first floor is equipped with a bar, an alfresco dining area, as well as a private room that can accommodate 150 guests for private and corporate events.
With delicious food and an extensive drink menu onsite, opt to book out its private room for ultimate privacy. If you fancy, you can book out the entire restaurant so long as you meet the minimum spend requirements.
There are many unconventional spaces around the Klang Valley, and at least one located in each key area. Keep an eye out for art galleries, private clubs, rooftops and exclusive spaces alike as most of them are open to hosting events.
However, if choosing a venue other than the office is not an option, don’t let it limit your imagination. Dress up the office with Christmas decorations, conceal the electronics and add clever touches to lighten and brighten the space.
People tend to forget that it is all about the tiny details. At the end of the day, it’s not the party that matters; it’s the company.
